O'Sullivan is eighth biggest European Senior earner

Denis O’Sullivan might not have won for eight years but he is now the eighth biggest earner in the history of the European Senior Tour.

The 65-year old former Irish Amateur Close champion finished his 15th season in the senior ranks by claiming a share of 36th alongside Des Smyth in the season-ending MCB Tour Championship in Maurtitius.

Des Smyth is five shots behind Spain’s Miguel Angel Martin following the opening round of the European Senior Tour’s season-ending MCB Tour Championship in Mauritius. As Smyth, 25th in the Order of Merit, posted a one under 71, Martin fired a six under par 66 to establish a one stroke lead at Constance Belle Mare Plage.

Cork’s Denis O’Sullivan came within a whisker of becoming the second oldest winner in the history of the European Senior Tour when he finished tied for second behind maiden winner Santiago Luna in the SSE Scottish Senior Open at Fairmont St Andrews.
