European Tour — Gareth Maybin slipped to a disappointing 73 on the final day but still picked up his second Top-10 of the season in the Made in Denmark at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.

Three shots behind eventual winner Marc Warren and Welshman Bradley Dredge starting the day, he got off to a slow start with a doubel bogey six at the fifth and a bogey at the ninth before a birdie at the 15th left him tied for ninth on one under.

A cheque for € 27,350 moved him to 125th in the Race to Dubai and within just €32,788 of the Top-110 who keep their cards.

Damien McGrane shot 70 to share 28th on two over and earn  €13,125 to mvoe to 74th in the Race to Dubai with €256,571 while Peter Lawrie (74) picke dup just     • € 3,450 and remains in danger of losing his card.

The 40-year old Dubliner has made just €40,070 from 21 starts and is 187th in the money list with just nine regular events remaining.

Simon Thornton (75) was joint 78th on 12 over and is now 138th in the Race to Dubai.

As for Warren, he converted his fine recent form into a first European Tour title for seven years courtesy of a two stroke victory.

The Scot, who finished tied 15th in last week’s US PGA Championship, carded a confident three under par closing round of 68 for a winning total of nine under par 275, while Welshman Dredge finished runner up on seven under par following a round of 70 to improve his hopes of a tour return.

Englishman Philip Archer (69) was third on four under par while Thomas Björn (69) finished as the leading Dane on three under par, sharing fourth position with English pair Eddie Pepperell (69) and Oliver Fisher (69), boosting his hopes of sealing an automatic Ryder Cup spot.

Warren said: "It feels incredible. I felt the last couple of years I’ve been close to winning a couple of times but for whatever reason it hasn’t  quite happened for me, whether I’ve made mistakes or someone else has played really well.

"This summer I fell more confident that I’ve ever done. Today I kept telling myself I was swinging the club really well and I was confident in what I was doing. I was happy to see the win come up as it would be difficult for someone to come out the pack.”
