Shanahan takes control in Carlow

The Castlemartyr player defied thick rough and slick greens to add a level par 70 to Saturday rounds of 75 and 73 to head Tramore’s Alan Thomas by a shot on eight over par.

Shane McGlynn (70), Colin Woodroofe (73), Niall Gorey (73) and half leader Conor O’Rourke (76) are just two shots behind Shanahan with John Greene the best of the bunch from the home club on 14 over after a 71.
