“Wild Thing” John Daly will tee it up in next month’s star-studded Irish Open at Royal Portrush.

The former Open and US PGA champion, 46, brings the number of confirmed major winners taking part to six.

US PGA champ Keegan Bradley has already announced he will join Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke from June 28-July 1.

Daly announced he was heading for Antrim on Twitter and even explained his Irish roots.

Asked my a fan if he had Irish ancestry, Daly wrote: “Daly is Irish, derived from Gaelic Ó Dálaigh.

“I have some kin to John Daly 1839–1864 American Western Outlaw—that count?#DalyGang”

The flamboyant American will tee it up on a sponsor’s invitation in the Irish Open for the second time.

In 2009 he played in the Nissan Irish Open at Baltray but missed the cut by three shots after rounds of 68 and 75.
