Top 50 chance for Lowry and Harrington

Pádraig Harrington is thinking beyond the world’s top 50 but getting back there would be a positive step for the Dubliner after spending the past 18 months outside the game’s top ranked players. Having hauled himself back into the tournament on Saturday to trail the leaders by just three shots, the Dubliner had 34 putts in a poor closing effort in perfect weather conditions and had to settle for a share of 10th place behind Branden Grace, who saw off boyhood heroes Retief Goosen and Ernie Els in a play-off.

Jiménez keeps his edge without the blade

Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomerie have been known to “lose it” over the years. And that’s why the sometimes tempestuous pair gave fellow veteran Miguel Angel Jiménez a vote of 6.0 for artistic merit after watching their ponytailed playing partner smash his misbehaving putter into two pieces by hurling it at his golf bag.
