Max Kennedy may not make the Walker Cup this year but he will certainly have the selectors’ attention over the next few months after going six extra holes to clinch a thrilling play-off victory in the Ulster Men’s Amateur Stroke Play Open Championship at Clandeboye.

Sean Keeling continued his hot run of form with a tie for third in the Welsh Open Strokeplay but he was furious to double-bogey the 18th to finish two shots outside a playoff at Southerndown.

Lahinch’s Aideen Walsh and Hermitage’s Rowan Lester took control in their respective events heading into Tuesday’s final round of the ISPS Handa Ulster Men’s and Women’s Stroke Play at Royal County Down.
