Carey's 69 leads Irish in Egypt; 75 for O'Driscoll on debut

Alps Tour — David Carey fired three birdies and an eagle three in a 69 to lead the Irish challenge after the first round of the Ein Bay Open on the Alps Tour in Egypt.

The Dubliner is tied for third at Sokhna Golf Club on three under par, two strokes behind Frack Daux of France who shot a 67.

Killarney's Tommy O'Driscoll posted a three over 75 on his professional debut after a sloppy finish.

He was one under par with four to play having started at the 10th, but he bogeyed the sixth, double bogeyed the par-five seventh and dropped another shot at the ninth to end the day tied 51st.

Amateur Eamonn O'Driscoll, Tommy's brother, signed for an 83.
