Parisian drien Pendaries might have struggled to a 74 but he still cruised to a comfortable eight-shot win in the Irish Boys Amateur Open Championship at Tuam.

The 16-year old became the first French winner of the title, finishing on two under par 286 at the Galway venue

Kinsale's John Murphy was the only player in the field to break par, caring a 69 to grab a six-way share of fourth place on nine over with Holywood's Rory Williamson and Portmarnock's Conor Purcel.

New Ross' Michael Ryan was second, eight behind Pendaries on six over after a 77 with England's Oliver Clarke third on seven over after a 75.

Clarke also took the under-17 prize on a day when Carton House's Marc Boucher had a hole-in-one at the 190-yard fifth in a closing 76 worth a share of 15th on 300.
