Tara Gribben hooks another win for Warrenpoint

Warrenpoint's magical year goes on and on. This time it was Tara Gribben who took home the silverware, beating Niamh Ward 4 and 3 in the final of the prestigious and historic Hughes Insurance Ulster Women’s Championship, at Warrenpoint no less.
ith the club winning the Barton Shield and Junior Cup titles in Ulster, Tara's cousin Colm Campbell taking the East of Ireland and then winning the Home Internationals on his international debut as Jamie Fletcher got the call for the Boys team, it's been a bumper season for the club that gave us such diverse characters and equally wonderful golfers as Tara's father Paddy Gribben and Ronan Rafferty to name just two.
In fact, it's been a pretty good summer for Tara, who was on the bag as Colm made the semi-finals of the Irish Close to secure his Irish place.
Just a few weeks ago she gradated from the University of Central Lancashire in Preston with a First Class honours degree in Golf Management.
At Warrenpoint this week she qualified in fourth place, beat Catherine McCanny and Victoria Craig to reach the last four and then saw off leading qualifier Niamh McSherry 2 and 1.
She proved too good for Niamh Ward — who had to go to the 20th to beat leading qualifier Louise Coffey in the semis — going three up after 10 and four up after 12 in the final before following a loss at the 13th with a title win at the 15th.
