Bray's Keith Nolan stormed into a share of the lead at the second stage of the PGA Tour Q-School in Texas.

The former Walker Cup star fired a four under par 68 at Deerwood Golf Club to tie with American Chez Reavie entering last night's third round.

Nolan is on level par 144 after a second round effort that featured five birdies and just one dropped shot, at his 17th.

And he's looking good to make the top 20 and ties who will progress to the six-round Q-School finals at La Quinta in California at the end of the month.

Ballyclare's Gareth Maybin hit a level par 72 at the same venue to jump to within two shots of the qualifying mark on six over with two rounds to go.

But it looks liek an uphill battle for Ulsterman Chris Devlin and Kerry's Sean Quinlivan at Panama City Beach in Florida.

Devlin opened with an eight over par 79 at Hombre Golf Club, one of six second stage venues, while Quinlivan crashed to a nightmare 81.
