Middle East conflict affects HotelPlanner Tour

The HotelPlanner Tour will no longer sanction next week’s Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship in India due to the ongoing military action in the Middle East.

HotelPlanner Tour staff and players are currently facing significant travel disruption ahead of the event in Ahmedabad, where Conor Purcell, Gary Hurley, Liam Nolan and Max Kennedy were scheduled to play.

With many players and officials set to travel via the Middle East, a decision was taken with the Professional Golf Tour of India to withdraw the HotelPlanner Tour sanction from this event.

The tournament will continue to be staged but will now be sanctioned solely by the Professional Golf Tour of India.

“This is an evolving situation that we will continue to monitor very closely, with assessments made on a tournament-by-tournament basis,” the HotelPlanner Tour said in a statment..

It remains to be seen if the conflict affects the DP World PGTI Open, schediuled for Classic Golf & Country Club in Gurugram, Haryana, India from March 19-22 or the two Middle East events scheduled for the UAE in April.
