Ireland's women claim Home Internationals title

Ireland claimed the women’s title following a 4.5-4.5 tie with Scotland but the men’s team ended up with the wooden spoon despite their 6.5-5.5 win over the Scots on the final day of the Men’s and Women’s Home Internationals at Woodhall Spa.
England won the overall Men’s and Women’s title from Wales and Ireland and also claimed the Raymond Trophy following their 6.5-5.5 win over the Welsh.
Gavin Tiernan lost his 100pc record when he teamed up with Thomas Higgins and halved with Gregor Tait and Alexander Farmer. He then lost 1up to Ross Laird in the singles but ended up as Ireland’s top scorer with 4.5 points from six as Higgins and Keith Egan won four points apiece and David Howard won three.

Rebekah Gardner and Beth Coulter were outstanding for the women’s team, where all seven players made a contribution.
Ireland were outstanding in foursomes, giving up just one half from nine matches.
