Robert Moran with the Christy O’Connor Jnr Memorial Trophy after finishing as the leading Irishman in the Irish Challenge at Killeen Castle.

Oihan Guillamoundeguy claimed a three-stroke victory in the Irish Challenge as Robert Moran secured the Christy O’Connor Jnr Memorial Trophy and a spot in the Amgen Irish Open.

The Frenchman signed for a two-under-par 70 at Killeen Castle to win on 11 under par from Swiss Ronan Kleu.

Alps Tour regular Moran (26) was two over for the day with eight holes to play before following an eagle three at the 12th with three birdies.

His 69 left him alone in fourth on six under, earning him a spot at The K Club next month.

He was honoured to add his name to the trophy named after the late Ryder Cup legend.

“To win a trophy named after one of Irish golf’s legends is amazing,” he said. “It was a great opportunity this week, and I’m delighted to have taken it.

“I’ve played The K Club a good few times, as it is 30 minutes from my house. The Amgen Irish Open in a few weeks will be fun.”

Paul McBride birdied the 18th to shoot 71 and tie for fifth with Italian Stefano Mazzoli, Swiss Benjamin Rusch, Danish Gustav Frimodt and Englishman Will Enefer on five under par.

Guillamoundeguy climbs from 15th to sixth in the Road to Mallorca Rankings following his win in Co. Meath

It boosts his chances of promotion to the DP World Tour, as the top 20 players graduate at the end of the season.

Liam Nolan - joint 19th on one under after a 71 - moved up two spots to 21st in the season-long race with Max Kennedy up one place to 25th after his T60 alongside Dungannon’s Jack Madden.

Moran is 105th, McBride is 147th, and Alex Maguire is 177th after he shot 76 to tie for 29th.

Guillamoundeguy (20), who has had his brother caddie for him throughout the 2025 campaign, was delighted with how they worked together on the final day to earn a maiden win.

“I’m just feeling so proud of myself,” he said. “Today wasn’t the easiest day.

“I didn’t play really well, but I managed it well with my brother. I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart. He’s doing an amazing job with me and I love him so much. I’m super proud.

“The goal today was to play how I did the first three days. I know that I like tough courses, and this was a proper golf course and a great test of golf. I was feeling really good out there.

“I think I’ve made a big move towards the DP World Tour. I will give my best for the rest of the season and keep doing a really good job with my brother on the bag.”

Guillamoundeguy, who started the day three shots off the lead, made his first birdie of the day on the second.

Despite dropping a shot on the very next hole, he birdied the sixth and eighth to move into a share of the lead alongside overnight leader Jeppe Kristian Andersen from Denmark.

The Frenchman birdied the ninth for a third gain in four holes, and with Andersen only able to double bogey the same hole, he had turned a three-shot deficit into a three-shot lead by the turn.

A bogey on the 13th couldn’t derail his round and he parred his way home to ensure victory.

Guillamoundeguy arrived in Ireland after recording four top 20 finishes in his last five starts, and felt the three-shot swing on the ninth was crucial.

“On nine when I made a birdie and he made double, I hit one of the most beautiful shots of my golf life,” he added. “It bounced just short of the flag, hit it and went 20 yards away.

“I made the putt and I think that was the moment I knew I had a good chance. I had a three-shot lead, and I just needed to keep doing what I was doing. I’m super proud. Now let’s see what the end of the year has to offer.”

Andersen finished third on seven under par after a 77.
