Kennedy and McBride chasing Mason in Finland

Max Kennedy and Paul McBride were the only Irishmen to make the cut as George Mason took a one-shot lead into the weekend of the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge supported by Finnish Golf Union.

Mason shot a six 66 to move to 13 under at Vierumäki Resort and lead by one from Germany’s Anton Albers.

Kennedy shot a two-under 70 and McBride a 69 to trail Englishman Mason by eight shots five under.

Robert Moran couldn’t back up his fourth place in the Irish Chalkenge and missed the two under par cut by two on level par (74-70) while Hugh Foley was three over (71-76).

Scotland’s David Law sits in third position on 11 under par, while Italian Aron Zemmer, American Chase Hanna, Hugo Townsend of Sweden and overnight leader Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela are a shot further back in fourth.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Meadow missed the cut on her return to LPGA Tour action in Oregon.

She added a 77 to her opening 72 to miss the two under cut in the Standard Portland Classic.

Jeongeun Lee5 (67) leads by a shot on 12 under from Evian Championship winner Grace Kim and Gurleen Kaur.
