Elm Park's Charlie Denvir rounded off 2021 in style when he made seven birdies in a five-under 66 to win the final TaylorMade Winter series outing of the year at a rain-softened Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links.

The Dubliner followed three opening pars with birdies at the fourth, fifth and sixth, then recovered from a double-bogey six at the seventh with a birdie at the eighth to turn in 34.

The back nine was more comfortable for the Elm Park player as he chalked down birdies at the 10th, 13th and 15th for an inward nine of 32 for a 66.

His nett 69 gave him the first nett on a countback from Portmarnock Links teaching professional Brendan Walton, who made four birdies (6th, 7th, 8th and 13th) against two bogeys (5th, 17th) for his 69.

Playing off three on the day, Lisburn's Martin O'Kane (1.4 index) had three birdies (4th, 6th, 11th) to take the third nett with a 70.

Rosslare's Paul Murphy won the gross with a two-under 69 as he mixed birdies at the second and 13th with a lone bogey at the seventh.

Gavin Moynihan was second in the gross with a level par 71 that featured two birdies and a triple-bogey eight at the fifth before normal service was resumed on the back nine with a birdie at the 10th and a closing run of pars.

Lucan's Philip Linton completed the podium with a level par round as he made birdies at the fifth, 6th and 8th and bogeys at the fourth 12th and 16th for his 71.
