Connemara’s Luke O’Neill was just one stroke off the lead after the opening round of the Allianz German Boys and Girls Open at Golf Club St Leona Rot.

The Galway talent made one bogey and four birdies in a three-under 69 that left him tied for third behind Germany’s Philipp Katich and Denmark’s Sebastian Friedrichsen.  Live scoring

Baltinglass’ Joseph Byrne shares 28th on one-over after a 73 with Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy and Lisburn’s Aaron Marshall tied 36th after 74’s, Roganstown’s Joshua McCabe 80th after a 77 and Seapoint’s Dylan Keating tied 87th after a 78.

Douglas’ Sara Byrne was 66th after opening with a three-over 77 in the Girls’ event, leaving her nine strokes behind Italy’s Emilie Paltrinieri, who led by one stroke from Germany’s Emiiy Krause after a six-under 68. Scores / Live scores
