Amateur golf is big in Ireland but senior golf is even bigger and Ireland excels with the men retaining the European Senior Men's Team Championship title in Poland on Saturday as the women took bronze in the European Ladies' Team Championship in Austria.

The men's team is a strong one with the likes of multiple championship winners Adrian Morrow and Arthur Pierse in the side and it could have been even stronger had Garth McGimpsey made the trip. Naturally, they had a good leader in team manager Albert Lee.
