Q-School: Irish still off the pace

Cian Curley.

Ireland's seven Q-School hopefuls are outside the qualifying place with two rounds to go at European Tour Qualifying School Stage One Section B qualifiers in England and Gemany.

The top 24 and ties at Frilford Heath will progress to Stage Two and while the mark is currently three under par 141, four Irish players are within four shots of qualifying.

Newlands' Cian Curley is only a shot outside, tied for 31st on two under 142 (69 73).

The Island's David Rawluk (72 72) and Mourne's Reeve Whitson (71 73) are three adrift, tied for 42nd on level par 144 while Banbridge's Richard Kilpatrick, tied 56th (71 74) on one over 145, is four shots off the pace.

Barry Daly and Matt McAlpin have work to do to make the 54-hole cut at five and seven over respectively at a venue where Daniel Gavins (68) remained in front on 11 under, one shot clear of fellow Englishman Nick McCarthy.

At Fleesensee Golf and Country Club in Germany, Lucan's Richie O'Donovan is two shots outside the Top 21 and ties on level par after rounds of 73 and 71.

Swede Wilhelm Schauman moved to the top of the leaderboard after seven birdies and one bogey in a 66 took him to an eight under par.
