Damian Mooney carded a two under par round of 70 to win the Craddockstown Pro-Am.

Mooney (Ballyliffin) finished a shot ahead of Neil O'Briain (Old Conna GC), with John Kelly (St Margaret's Golf & CC) a shot further back.

Detailed scoreboard

It was O'Briain's second runners-up finish of the week, following his play-off defeat at the hands of Dara Lernihan (Elm Park) in the PGA Challenge at Carton House.

Craddockstown, in Co Kildare, was hosting a pro-am for the very first time and proved a stiff test for the competitors, with only Mooney and O'Briain finishing under par.

Mooney got off to fast start, collecting birdies at the first and third but a bogey at the fourth, followed by a double at the par three sixth saw him slip over par however, the experienced campaigner responded with a run of superb golf.

He eagled the par five eighth, birdied the ninth, 10th and 12th to get to four under par and take command of the event. Two late bogeys at 16 and 17 gave the rest of the field a chance but in the end his two-under par total was enough for victory.
