Meadow's pro plans held up by red tape

Stephanie Meadow my not have played her last event as an amateur. The Royal Portrush star was expected to make her professional debut in the US Women's Open at Pinehurst No 2 next week.

But she confirmed on Wednesday that she is "waiting on legal things to come through" before she can officially join the paid ranks.

The former University of Alabama player was a member of the losing Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup side in St Louis last week.

Unable to reveal the extent of her problems, she confirmed that it was not certain that she would be a professional at Pinehurst.

"It all depends on the result of the situation," she said, mysteriously.
