Portmarnock's Adrian Morrow won a duel in the sun with English pair Alan Mew and Stephen East to claim his third Irish Seniors Amateur Open title at an immaculate Waterville.

The lead swung between the three players for most of the day before Morrow, two behind overnight, emerged with a three-shot lead with three holes to play.

Hole-by-hole scoring

It looked all over but there was a two-shot swing at the 16th as Morrow made bogey to East's birdie to see his lead reduced to one.

But Morrow held his nerve, finishing in style with a 20-foot putt for birdie at the par-five 18th for a two-under 70 and a three-round total of level par, 216, two better than East (72) and Mew (73).

Woodbrook's John L Hughes was the nearest challenger to the leading trio, carding a 74 to finish on seven over, one ahead of Maurice Kelly (Naas) and Tom Cleary (Cork).
