There were no questions from the floor about the rumoured staging of the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush when the club held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday.

While there was a "casual mention" at the end of the meeting that negotiations with the R&A are ongoing and that there will be an Emergency General Meeting as soon as there is news, not one of the 100 or so members who turned up had further questions on the matter when the opportunity arose.

The general membership has yet to see proposed plans for the routing of the Open course and while there is general enthusiasm for the idea, there are also fears about what may be in the pipeline.

Despite this scenario, it appears that no-one is as yet prepared to raise their fears publicly without having first seen the plans.
