Mourne’s Reeve Whitson shot a four over 76 to share 42nd place at the water-strewn venue designed by Randall Thompson.
The Argentinian Amateur was first played on 15 August 1895, making it is the sixth oldest amateur event in the world behind the British Amateur Championship (1885), the Irish Amateur Open (1892), the Irish Close (1893), the US Amateur (1894) and the New Zealand Amateur. Argentina’s Championship is tied for sixth with the Canadian and Welsh Championships, which also began in 1895.
