Whitson shot a one over 72 and O’Donovan a 71 to leave them in front on two under 282 at halfway, five strokes better than New Zealand’s Joshua Munn and Jordan Bakermans.

Australia’s Geoff Drakeford and Jordan Zunic are third, six behind Ireland on 288 with Spain’s Eduardo Larrañaga and Antonio Ferrer tied for fourth with South Africans Drikus Bruyns and Charles du Plessis on 292.

Torrential rain flood parts of Los Lagartos Country Club in the Buenos Aires province on Friday, forcing officials to postpone the second round until Saturday and play until light ran out.

The third round resumed at 7am local time today (10am in Ireland) with the final round set to begin shortly after lunch.

Munn (67-71) leads the individual standings by two shots on 138 from Drakeford with O’Donovan (70-71) and Whitson (69-72) tied for third on 141.
