Muskerry’s Niall Turner has made a consistent start to his career on the Asian Tour.

The former University of Minnesota player finished tied for 22nd in the ICTSI Philippine Open at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club near Manila on Sunday, moving up to 68th in the Order of Merit with earnings of $11,808.

Turner had weekend rounds of 75 and 74 in tough conditions to finish five strokes behind the winner on five over par to earn $3,100.

The title went to American Berry Henson, who held off a late charge from local hope Jay Bayron to win his first Asian Tour title by a stroke on five under.

“I feel like I went 72 rounds with Manny Pacquiao this week and didn’t get K.O,” said Henson, who won US$47,550. “I played on a very difficult golf course and the weather was brutal. It was a hard win.”

The Asian Tour now takes a month off before it resumes with the Queen’s Cup at Santiburi Samui Country Club in Thailand in June.
