McGinley's club hire business takes off

Paul McGinley’s club hire business is all set for take off.

Golfers who are fed up paying airlines hefty each way charges to take their clubs on holiday can now hire top of the range equipment at for just €35.

Similar to car hire, clients order the make and model of equipment on-line and then present their booking voucher at the quiosk in the airport terminal.

The service will be available at Faro airport in Portugal from June 19 with Malaga, Edinburgh and Dublin to follow at a later date.

Customers can rent the latest TaylorMade, Callaway or MD Golf equipment with 14-club sets (left and right handed) available for men, women or juniors.

You can even hire golf shoes and used equipment will be cleared out at sale prices at a later date.

McGinley set up the business with his old college friend Ton Judge and he reckons he’s onto a winner.

He said: “ is an excellent concept,  which allows the travelling golfer complete peace of mind when going on that golfing trip. The service lets golfers enjoy the latest golf technology, while also saving money on carriage costs.

“The new service also allows golfers improve their personal carbon foot print, by reducing weight on the aircraft.”
