McIlroy five shots adrift in Marbella

Rory McIlroy ended the second day of the Andalucia Open on Friday five shots behind joint leaders, Swede Peter Hedblom and Australian Matthew Millar.

McIlroy fired a one-over-par 73 to lie in a tie for 26th place on three under.

Darren Clarke missed the cut by five shots after carding a 76 which included two double bogeys and a birdie, this leaving him on five over par.

Damien McGrane (72) is four under and Peter Lawrie (72) level par but Gary Murphy (72) missed the cut on two over.

McIlroy had opened with a round of 68 on Thursday but his 18 holes on Friday included two birdies and three bogeys.

McIlroy said: "I three-putted three times and they were my only bogeys."
