Feherty hit by truck

Funnyman commentator David Feherty cheated death after being hit by a truck.

The Ulsterman and CBS star broke three ribs and punctured his lung when he was knocked down riding his bike near his home in Dallas.

Clobbbered by the wing mirror, he woke up in hospital but expects to be fit to commentate on the Masters next month.

The former Ryder Cup ace said: "He didn't want to hit the car on the left, so he ran over the cyclist on the right

"I don't remember a whole lot about it. There was a lady on the scene quickly, keeping me conscious.

"The next thing I know, I'm at Baylor Medical Center, the only hospital in the United States that doesn't have The Golf Channel!"

Feherty admits to having several previous spills due to "pilot error" but confessed that he was lucky this time.

He explained: "This was flying through the air and speeding up. It was entirely different, and not near as much fun. I was lucky I didn't go underneath the trailer."

Feherty hoped to be discharged this week and return to his TV duties with CBS for the Masters.
