Torrance goes plane crazy

Coach Bob Torrance has revealed how he almost went plane crazy during the Irish Open play-off.

The grizzly Scot had to catch an early flight to Glasgow and missed seeing pupil Padraig Harrington lift the trophy.

He revealed: "I was watching the play-off in Shannon airport and when Padraig and Bradley Dredge were about to hit their third shots, our flight was called.

"It was going to be a nervy flight not knowing what had happened but the captain came on the tannoy and announced that Padraig had won.

"My wife June let out a shriek and jumped out of her seat. I thought she was going to hit the roof."
