Reporting on the final in The Irish Press on March 31, "Long Putt" wrote:

"A NEW "tiger" was roared at Rosses Point yesterday, when Jack McLoughlin, of Royal Dublin, won his first Championship at the expense of Cecil Ewing—three times winner of the West of Ireland title, and British Walker Cup player. Windswept Dollymount proved a splendid training ground for the winner, for yesterday's final at Rosses Point was played under hurricane conditions. Ball control was the deciding factor, and McLoughlin displayed a splendid mastery in the easterly gale which made par golf next to impossible."
