Golf Ireland seeks volunteers for Regional Sub Committees

The Golf Ireland Regional Executive Committees are seeking Expressions of Interest from members of affiliated clubs to fill five Sub Committees of each region and to develop extended Volunteer Panels to support the work of these committees.

Assistance has been sought from clubs in promoting this process to its membership however applications will be accepted directly from the interested individuals and a separate nomination from your Home Club is not required.

Regional Sub Committees
The following are the areas in which Sub Committees are being filled:

  • Handicapping

  • Course Rating

  • Championships

  • Rules of Golf

  • Junior Development

The minimum criteria to be eligible for appointment are as set out in the Terms of Reference for Sub Committees and Volunteer Policy for Golf Ireland. Each of these Sub Committees shall have six members inclusive of the Chairperson, who shall be a member of the elected Regional Executive Committee.

Regional Volunteers Panel
Any applicant who is unsuccessful in securing a position on a Regional Sub Committee will be considered for a position on a volunteer panel in that area, should they wish to take up such a role.

In addition, club members can apply to be part of a volunteer panel directly, without having to put their name forward to serve on a Regional Sub Committee.

It is envisaged that volunteers panellists will be required in the same areas as above namely; Handicapping, Course Rating, Championships, Rules of Golf and Junior Development. In the case of the Handicapping and Course Rating, a Lead Handicapping Advisor and Lead Course Rater respectively will be required for each administrative zone.

Applicants shall clearly state their name, club, contact details and the Sub Committee(s) for which they are applying. Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide a short bio of no more than 100 words outlining their skills and experience.

All applications will be circulated to the five members of the relevant Regional Nominations Sub Committee who shall review and nominate candidates to the Regional Executive Committee for approval.
