A spokesperson for Dunne, who missed his 10th cut of the year on Saturday, said: "Darren has been an excellent caddy, a good friend and a great help to Paul over the last few years but their working relationship is now at an end."

Dunne had his father on the bag for the second round of the BMW PGA at Wentworth, where he opened with an 80.

He went on to shoot rounds of 70.75 and 68 inn the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship but missed the cut by six strokes.

He is joined in the Mutuactivos Open de España at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid by Gavin Moynihan and Michael Hoey.

In amateur golf, Ireland begin their defence of the Senior Ladies Home Internationals against Scotland at County Sligo today. Programme
