Dundalk's Caolan Rafferty and Rosslare's John Brady are tied for ninth place heading into Sunday's final 36 holes at the Lytham Trophy.

Rafferty shot a three-over 73 and Boys international Brady a 74 to trail Royal Liverpool's Walker Cup player Matthew Jordan by six strokes on two-over 142.

Jordan was three-under for his second round with four holes to play but despite making a double-bogey six at the 15th, he posted a 69 to lead by two-strokes on four-under-par from Mitch Waite (Filton), who shot a best of the day 66, and Sweden's David Nyfjall, who carded a 69.

Four of the 11-strong Irish challenge survived the cut, which fell at seven-over 147.

Massereene's Tiarnan McLarnon added a 74 to his opening 71 to share 25th on five-over while Tramore's Robin Dawson signed for a 72 to make it with a shot to spare on six-over 146.

Castle's Alex Gleeson (73 76) and Dun Laoghaire's Colin Woodroofe (72 77) missed out by two shots on 149 with Galway's Ronan Mullarney (151, 75 76), Laytown and Bettystown's Eugene Smith (152, 74 78), Newlands' Jake Whelan (153, 75 78) and Kilkenny's Mark Power (153, 73 80) completing the Irish scoring.
