Ireland's Lauren Crowley Walsh and David Kitt are alone in fifth after opening with a seven-under 63 in the fourballs in the Mixed Team event at the Youth Olympics in Argentina.

They raced to the turn in six-under 28, picking up birdies at the second, third, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth before adding one more at the 13th at Hurlingham Club in Buenos Aires.

They are six strokes adrift of Italy's Alessia Nobilio and Andrea Romano who shot a 13 under 57 to lead by three shots from Thailand (60) and by five from the USA and Switzerland (62).

Play continues with the foursomes on Sunday followed by Monday's individual strokeplay round.
