Irish duo trail in Youth Olympics golf
Castlewarden’s Lauren Crowley Walsh is tied for 11th after opening with a five-over 75 in the Women's Individual Stroke Play at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
The 18-year-old is seven strokes behind Italy’s Alessia Nobilio, who shot a two-under 68 at Hurlingham Golf Club to lead the 54-hole event by three strokes from Yuka Saso of the Phillippines, Mexico’s Maria Fernanda Martinez, Norway’s Emilie Oeveraas, Australi’s Si Un Kim and Chinese Taipei’s Hoyu An.
In the Men's Individual Stroke Play, Athenry’s David Kitt (18) is 28th on 10-over after an opening 80 and 11 strokes behind Thailand’s Vanchai Luangnitikul, American Akshay Bhatia, Italy’s Andrea Romano and Australia’s Karl Vilips, who shot one-under 69s to lead the field by two strokes.
Crowley Walsh and Kitt will also compete in the Mixed Team event from October 13-15.
