Power remains on course in Reno

Seamus Power took another step towards retaining his PGA Tour card when he made the cut with ease in the Barracuda Championship in Reno.

The West Waterford man racked up nine points on day two and is tied for 19th on 16 points in the Modified Stableford event at Montreux Golf & Country Club, ten points behind leader Richy Werenski.

Ranked one place outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings who will keep their cards after the Wyndham Championship in a fortnight, Power was projected to move up to 122nd last night.

A good weekend would be huge for the 30-year old who is playing his seventh event in a row and his eighth in nine weeks.

The cut fell at 10 points which meant that Pádraig Harrington missed out by six despite a fast finish to his second round.

The Dubliner made one birdied, one bogey and two double bogeys in his first 10 holes before picking up four birdies in his last eight to finish on the equivalent of level par for the week.

Werenski leads by two points from Australian Stuart Appleby on 26 points.
