Mitchell tied for lead as tight finish beckons at Co Tipperary

Tramore’s John Mitchell remained at the top of the pile as a second round 76 gave him a share of the lead heading int the final round of the Irish Seniors Amateur Open at Co Tipperary.

Mitchell shares the lead with England's Andrew Carman (74) on four-over-par 148.

No fewer than five players are within a shot of the leader on five-over — Ireland's Hugh Smyth, Wales' Nigel Evans, Scotland's Tony Patterson and England's Ian Clarke and Richard Elmes.

The cut fell at 164.
