Irish Intervarsity wins for Maynooth's Rafferty and Casey

Maynooth University was celebrating double success in the Irish Intervarsity Championship as Caolan Rafferty and Ciara Casey captured the men's and women's titles at Enniscrone.
Rafferty carded a two-over 75 to win the men's event by a stroke from Maynooth teammate Eugene Smith and UCC’s Ben Murray on three-over-par 222.

Another Maynooth University player, Harry Gillivan, closed with the low round of the week, a five-under-par 68, to claim fourth.
In the women's event, Ciara Casey made three birdies on the back nine to close with a level par 73 and clinch a one-shot win over her Maynooth teammate Eleanor Metcalfe on 11-over 230.
Overnight leader Shannon Burke from Ulster University slipped back with an 82 and had to settle for a share of third place alongside two more Maynooth players, Molly Dowling and Mary Doyle.
