No change in Ryder Cup system; Coulter returns; Home Internationals at Woodbrook

Luke Donald has announced an unchanged qualifying process for the 2027 Ryder Cup Europe at Adare Manor.

The qualifying period will begin at the Husqvarna British Masters, which takes place at The Belfry from August 27-30 and end on Sunday, August 22, 2027, inclusive of both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour events that week.

These events will be confirmed when both Tours announce their 2027 schedules later this year.

As was the case in 2025, the leading six players from the Ryder Cup Points list will earn automatic qualification for Team Europe.

European captain Donald will then complete his 12-man team by selecting a further six ‘Captain’s Picks’ in the week commencing Monday, August 30, 2027 before bidding to win a third match in a row in Co Limerick from September 17–19.

“The start of qualification is always a notable milestone in the Ryder Cup journey, so I am delighted to today confirm details of our process for the 2027 European Team,” Donald said.

“We have a lot of talented European players at the moment, some with Ryder Cup experience and others who will be trying to qualify for the first time. I am therefore really looking forward to seeing them compete to qualify for Team Europe over the next 12 months.

“Next year’s Ryder Cup at Adare Manor promises to be very special for so many different reasons.

“It will be the 100-year anniversary of the Ryder Cup and we will have the support of the Irish crowds, who are among the best in the world.

“Those factors will only add to the motivation of our European players to ensure they are part of it.

In the LET Access Series, Beth Coulter will be looking to build on her win on her professional debut in last week’s Women’s Irish Challenge at Malahide when she tees it up in the CSK Steel Women’s Open at Himmerland Resort in Denmark.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s top amateur golfers will compete on two fronts this week as the R&A Home Internationals get underway at Woodbrook and Monifieth Golf Links.

The Men’s and Women’s matches take place at the Co Wicklow venue, while the Boys’ and Girls’ Home Internationals are taking place at the Scottish links.
