Castleknock’s David Reddan carded a brace of two-under par 70s in blustery conditions to win the Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup, sponsored by Trade Electric Group.

His final round featured a sensational eagle three at the long par five 16th hole in the second round, where he almost holed out for an albatross.

His spectacular approach shot helped him win by one stroke from a high-quality chasing pack comprising Glasson’s Isaac Oliver (73-68), Greystones’ Dylan Holmes (71-70), Fota Island’s Morgan Cain (71-70) and Dooks’ Conor Hickey (70-71).

Castletroy’s Dean McMahon (72-70) continued his run of good form to finish fifth in the 79th edition of the event on two under.

Oliver had the best round of the day, a four-under 68 in the second round, while Birr’s Eanna Mulhare recorded the only other sub-70 score of the event, closing with a 69 to finish ninth on one-over.
