Sport Ireland has announced the renewal of its sponsorship of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.

Coinciding with Women in Sport Week, the announcement underlines its commitment to supporting the continued growth of women’s sport and world-class sporting events in Ireland.

The 2026 event will take place from August 27 –30 at The K Club’s Palmer South Course, which previously hosted three European Opens and two Irish Challenges

Since its return to the Ladies European Tour calendar in 2022, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open has rapidly developed into one of the standout tournaments on the tour.

The event has attracted some of the world’s leading golfers to Ireland while welcoming large crowds of spectators and a growing global broadcast audience.

The renewed partnership with Sport Ireland represents a significant investment in the tournament and in the continued development of women’s golf in Ireland. Sport Ireland’s support has played a vital role in the success and expansion of the event, helping to elevate the tournament’s profile and ensuring it continues to attract leading international players to compete on Irish soil.

In addition to bringing world-class talent to Ireland, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open also provides an invaluable platform for emerging Irish golfers.

Through tournament invitations and qualifying opportunities, Irish amateur players have the chance to compete alongside some of the best players in the world and gain first-hand experience of playing in a professional tournament environment.

Sport Ireland CEO Dr Úna May said: “At Sport Ireland, we do a lot of work to support and promote women's sport at all levels, so during Women in Sport Week, we're very happy to be able to renew our sponsorship of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.

"This investment will help raise the profile of Women's Golf in the country and inspire the next generation of golfers that are coming through.

"It's just one of the many ways that we carefully direct investment to support the development of golf in Ireland. Since 1999, we've also provided funding to the Golf Ireland Professional Scheme. It gives players direct funding, coaching expertise, access to Golf Ireland’s National Academy and Quinta do Lago training base, and access to the Sport Ireland Institute."

Cian Branagan, CEO of ForeFront Group, said: “We are hugely grateful for the continued support of Sport Ireland. Their investment in the KPMG Women’s Irish Open is incredibly important to the ongoing growth and development of the tournament.

Support like this helps us attract some of the biggest names in women’s golf to Ireland, while also providing a unique opportunity for Irish amateur players to experience competing in a professional tournament environment. Creating that pathway and platform for emerging Irish talent is something we are very passionate about, and Sport Ireland’s backing plays a vital role in making that possible.”

The tournament continues to play an important role in inspiring participation in golf, promoting women’s sport, and positioning Ireland as a host of world-class international sporting events.

Further details regarding the upcoming KPMG Women’s Irish Open, including ticket information and player announcements, will be released in the coming months.
