Just six days after a one-two finish in the Ein Bay Open, Ireland’s quartet of hopefuls missed the cut in the Alps Tour’s Little Venice Open in Egypt.
Portumna’s Sam Murphy came back to earth with a bump on his return to the scene of his maiden win on his professional debut at Sokhna Golf Club last week, carding a second successive 71 to miss the five-under-par cut by three strokes.
Castle’s Robert Moran, who was runner-up to Murphy in the opening event, followed a 67 with a 76 to finish a shot further back on one-under.
Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley shot rounds of 70 and 74 to miss out on level par, while rounds of 78 and 75 saw Cathal MacCanna miss out on the final round action for the second week running.
The Netherlands’ Lars Keunen followed a 65 with a six-under 66 to lead by a shot from Spanish pair Agusti Quinquilla and Josep Maria Serra Busquet on 13 under.
