Dungannon’s Dwayne Mallon edged out Royal Portrush’s Oscar Murphy to win the Magee 1886 Scratch Cup at Donegal Golf Club.
Murphy added a course record, seven-under 66 to his opening 75 to finish on five-under, but it was Mallon who took the spoils on six-under for 36 holes after rounds of 73 and 67.
In the Britton Insurance Junior Scratch Cup, which was played over 27 holes, Mountrath’s Stewart Carter claimed victory after a fantastic display of golf by following a level par 73 with 38 to win by a shot from Ballyliffin’s Jack MacIntyre.
The event was proudly sponsored by the Temple family and the Magee 1886 Collection, while the Junior Scratch Cup was supported by Britton Insurance and the Britton family.
These long-standing partnerships reflect a deep history of commitment to both the club and the game of golf in the region.
Despite a wet start, the weather cleared to set the stage for a thrilling afternoon of play.
The success of the day would not have been possible without the generous and longstanding support of the Temple-Magee families, Magee 1886, Britton Insurance, and the Britton family.
Participants praised Paul McGinley’s recent course improvements, which provided an immaculate stage for a remarkable showcase of skill.
