Séamus Power missed a golden opportunity to secure his card for 2026 when he crashed to a four-over 75 to finish ten shots outside a playoff in the John Deere Classic.

The West Waterford man went into the final round just three shots off the lead on a tightly packed leaderboard at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.

Every stroke was worth its weight in gold with the top 20 covered by just five strokes.

But Power, who was tied for sixth overnight, shot the joint worst score of the day to finish tied for 44th on eight under.

Brian Campbell (32) claimed his second win of the season and his career after a playoff with Argentina's Emiliano Grillo.

Not only did Power fail to move closer to the top 100 in the FedEx Cup who will be fully exempt next year, but he also fell five places to 128th with just five full-field events remaining before the playoffs.

The damage was done when he three-putted from just four feet at the fifth for a fatal double-bogey six,

He went on to make two birdies and two bogeys before being forced to take penalty drops off poor tee shots at the 15th and 16th, making a double-bogey a bogey, before getting a shot back at the 17th.

Overnight leader Davis Thompson shot 72 to finish joint 18th on 14 under as Campbell, who is comfortably the shortest hitter on the PGA Tour with an average drive of just 276 yards, closed with a 67 to set the target at 18-under.

He was joined on that mark by Grillo, who also shot four under, but David Lipsky, who had a chance to win outright when he eagled the 17th to tie for the lead, bogeyed the last to miss out.

Campbell, who overcame a double bogey at the 15th in his final round, went on to two-putt from 15 feet for a winning par on their return to the 18th in sudden-death after Grillo failed to get up and down after flying through the green.

"Blank," Campbell said when asked what was going through his head after adding to his win in the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld earlier this year.

"I think I'm still in tournament mode. I'm still in golf mode. But man, what an incredible day.

"I'm just so proud of myself after making that double to kind of hang in there, come back and, you know, I just told my caddy, let's post a number and see what happens, as best we can do right now and just over the moon."

Lipsky tied for third with Kevin Roy on 17-under while former world number five Max Homa shot 69 to tie for fifth on 16 under with Carson Young, Jacob Bridgeman, Lucas Glover, Matt Kuchar and Kurt Kitayama.

Power will have another chance to climb the rankings when he tees it up in this week's ISCO Championship in Kentucky, where Conor Purcell is also in the field.

The event is being played opposite the dual-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, where Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington join Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa in a star-studded field.
