A record 16 Irish players—seven professionals and nine amateurs—will tee it up in the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Carton House, Fairmont from July 3-6.

It is the largest Irish field in the event’s history and a significant milestone that highlights the growing depth and strength of women’s golf in Ireland.

The historic field includes top professionals Leona Maguire, Olivia Mehaffey, Sara Byrne, Lauren Walsh, Annabel Wilson, Anna Foster, and Canice Screene.

They will be joined by nine Irish amateurs: Beth Coulter, Aine Donegan, Olivia Costello, Anna Dawson, Emma Fleming, Rebekah Gardner, Roisin Scanlon, Anna Abom, and Marina Joyce Moreno.

PGA Tour

Last week: Rocket Classic, Detroit Golf Club

Seamus Power missed the cut in the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club and is now ranked 123rd in the race to make the top 100 who will be fully exempt in 2026.

The West Waterford man, who withdrew with a back “tweak” in his previous start in Canada, followed a 73 with a 71 to miss the six-under-par cut by six strokes.

Power didn’t have a good week from tee to green and a mediocre putting week meant he was never in the running to make the weekend.

He’s 113th for strokes gained from the tee this season and 148th for strokes gained putting, down from 63rd on the greens in 2023 and 40th in 2022.

This week — John Deere Classic, TPC Deere Run. Purse $8,400,000 /Winner $1,512,000

Seamus Power tees it up in Ohio, looking to move up the FedEx Cup standings. His presence there means he’s missing Final Qualifying for the Open and can only now qualify if he gets into the field for the Genesis Scottish Open, where three spots will be awarded to the leading three players, not already exempt, who make the cut.

DP World Tour

Last week:  Italian Open, Argentario GC

France’s Adrien Saddier won his maiden title by a shot from compatriot Martin Couvra, earning both men spots in The Open at Royal Portrush.

Portmarnock’s Conor Purcell shot rounds of 70 and 74 to miss the cut.

He’s 147th in the Race to Dubai, which leaves him needing at least one big finish before the end of the season to keep his card.

Purcell is outside the top 100 for GIR and putting this season.

This week: BMW International Open, Golfclub München Eichenried

Purcell returns to action this week in Munich, where LIV Golf’s Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia will be the headline acts.

LIV Golf

Last week: LIV Golf Dallas

In the blazing heat, Patrick Reed, the Lone Star State’s own “Captain America,” etched his name in the history books with a win at LIV Golf Dallas presented by Aramco. The win marks Reed’s first LIV Golf individual title as well as his first professional win in his home state of Texas.

In the end, Reed came up clutch in a four-man playoff against Paul Casey, Jinichiro Kozuma and Louis Oosthuizen.

Tom McKibbin of Legion XIII shot rounds of 71-71-69 to finish T5, his best result since joining LIV Golf in the offseason.

After LIV Golf plays at Valderrama, the Northern Irishman will represent the league at the Open Championship. McKibbin earned a place in the major championship due to his performance on the DP World Tour last year.
