Tour round-up: Galbraith and Young to the fore

Alps Tour - France-based Kerrryman Michael Young carded a bogey-feee, four-under 66 to lie just three shots off the lead after the opening round of the Alps de Andalucía – Roquetas de Mar.
He was tied for sixth behind France’s Paul Margolis, whose is 63 gave him a one-shot lead over Italy’s Francesco Santoni and Andrea Romano at Club de Golf Playa Serena.
The day began mostly sunny, with moderate winds that intensified by mid-morning, eventually becoming gusty as the afternoon progressed.
Hugh Foley made five birdies in a 69 to lie T28 while Kinsale’s John Murphy was T36 after he made an eagle and three birdies in a 70.
Marc Boucher, Ronan Mullarney and Robert Moran were T51 after 71s.
On the Clutch Tour, Whitehead’s John Ross Galbraith continued his good run of form in the Caddy Comps Championship at Belton Woods.
He made seven birdies in a two-under 70 to share third place on 10-under heading into the final round.
He was four shots behind leader Harry Ellis as James Sugrue’s 70 left him four shots further back in T17.
Robert Brazill shot 70 and Daniel Mulligan a 68 to share 28th on four-under while Conor Murtagh was T34 on three-under after a 71.
Paul McBride shot 68 but missed the level par cut by two.
