The Castletroy Men’s Senior Scratch Cup, sponsored by Trade Electric Group, will take place on Sunday, 15 June.

First played at the Limerick parkland in 1948, the Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup (the Major HK Murray trophy) is one of the oldest and most prestigious scratch cups in the country and attracts many of Ireland's best amateur golfers each year.

The course measures almost 7,000 yards off the back tees and consistently offers a stiff challenge to any player on the scratch cup or championship circuit.

The 2024 winner, former Irish International and 2007 Irish Close champion Paul O’Hanlon, has confirmed his entry for the 2025 edition.

Recent winners include 2023 Irish Close champion, Rob Moran, 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup representative, David Kitt, Connacht Interprovincial, Simon Walker, and former South of Ireland and Amateur Championship winner James Sugrue.

The roll of honour features seven GB&I Walker Cup representatives in John Burke, Jimmy Bruen, Max McCready, JB Carr, Tom Craddock, David Sheahan and Sugrue, as well as successful professionals Liam Higgins, Des Smyth and Denis O’Sullivan.

A strong field is expected again this year with various representative golfers and in-form players from the 2025 Bridgestone Men’s Order of Merit likely to feature.

  • Shotgun start at 9am and 2.30pm on the day.
