Ballyliffin bets on solar in battle against soaring energy costs

Ballyliffin Golf Club

The installation of Solar PV system was completed last week at Ballyliffin Golf Club as the club bids to battle soaring energy costs nationwide.

Ballyliffin appointed ROL Group and their partner Solar Evolution for the installation of the very latest technologies in Solar PVs, expanded water heating capacity and surge protection measures.

A total of 154 Tier 1, 470W NType  Jinko Solar PV panels are in place in two separate arrays, totalling circa 72.38 KW, (see below made up of 32.9 KWp and 39.48KWp) C02 Emissions Avoided = 29.808 Tonnes of CO2/Year to maximise benefit to the club.

The panels are fitted to the large mixing shed in the yard and connected to the clubhouse, machinery sheds and directly to the car park for EV charging points, which will be installed shortly.

The systems will dramatically reduce the club’s energy consumption of both oil and electricity, provide a green energy solution for EV charging, reduce our energy costs and any excess energy will be sold back to the grid.

The investment has a forecasted payback of a little over four years and Ballyliffin is looking forward to sharing live information on the system’s performance on its website shortly.
