Moran just one shot off the pace as four Irish make cut at Alps Tour Q-School

Castle’s Robert Moran fired a four-under 69 to go into the final round of the Alps Tour Qualifying School just one stroke off the lead.
The Dubliner made an eagle and four birdies at Olgiata Golf Club near Rome to share third place behind fellow amateurs Luca Cavalli and England’s Mason Essam on six-under-par.
The top 35 and ties will earn tour cards and Moran is one of four Irish players still in the mix after the 36-hole cut fell at five-over par.
Portmarnock amateur Brandon St John shot a level par 71 at Golf Nazionale to share 22nd place with Laytown and Bettystown’s Alex Maguire three over after a level par 73 at Olgiata, where two back nine bogeys left him facing a nervy finish over the last four holes.
Carton House amateur Marc Boucher shot a four-over 77 at Olgiata to make it with a shot to spare on four-over.
AJ McCabe finished double-bogey, bogey at Olgiata to card a 77 and miss out by a shot while Michael Young finished on nine-over after a six-over 79 at Olgiata, tied for 109th with Simon Bryan, who shot 77 at the same venue.
JD Hanney finished on 10-over after a three-over 76 at Olgiata while Luke Donnelly retired.
The top 35 players and ties, ranked by score, will be eligible to receive Category 6 membership for the 2024 Alps Tour Season.
The rest of the players who made the cut, and finish between the 36th and 65th position will be eligible to receive Category 8 membership.
Players who missed the cut will be eligible to receive membership in Category 9.
