Grange’s Jake Whelan is building up a head of steam for this week’s Connolly’s Audi West of Ireland Championship.

The reigning Mullingar Scratch Trophy holder carded rounds of 66 and 67 to win the Rosslare Scratch Cup by five shots from Castleknock’s Paul Coughlan on Saturday, then teamed up with Sean O’Connor to win the Dublin Scratch Foursomes at Grange on Sunday.

In Rosslare, Bray’s Alan Fahy was third on two-under with Harry Fanagan (19) fourth on one-under, edging out his father Jody, the former Walker Cup player, by virtue of his better second-round score.
